The next member of our very popular Gatsby family! With a smaller footprint than the bigger bars, this tall unit manages to pack in lots of storage and all the gorgeous features, whilst taking up less space – ideal for modern homes.
After fully striping down the entire cabinet, the wood was prepped and the unit was given a new lease of life with Athenian Black Annie Sloan paint. Waxed in both clear & black wax to seal the paintwork and ensure long term protection. The tired-looking original handles were replaced with new brass items, which we selected to complement the mottled patina of the existing hinges & stays.
We’ve added wooden trim panels to the top leaf and the drawer front at the bottom, which have lifted the rather plain ‘face’ of this unit up to a far grander level.
The big feature of this piece – particularly when it’s opened up – is the Art Deco paper lining. We carefully applied this to the two panels on the front, and then to the inside of the lid, all around the central section and extensively on the drawer. The addition of a mirror to the back of the centre section reflects the paper inside and the etch glass design, whilst also showcasing the bottles placed inside. The bottom drawer also has a felt lining to the base.
