Dating from the late 1880s and looking it’s age when it came to us, we painted this beautiful trunk in Annie Sloan Old White chalk paint, finished with dark & clear wax to protect & seal, ensuring durability for practical use.
Jo then creatively distressed the paintwork to emphasise the details of the original shape. The inside was then tastefully decorated with travel-themed paper decoupage, which has then been protected & sealed with specialist varnish. Ideal as a coffee table – best if used with a tray due to the studded top – the extra storage of this trunk is invaluable!
Although non-functioning, the original ‘J&E Bates of Wolverhampton’ lock & latch remains in place, which is becoming increasingly unusual with these trunks having pretty hard lives.
Now successfully relocated to a lovely lady near Preston!
